The
ADL Alumni Association reunion on September 17, 2008 will coincide
with another special occasion. In addition to the usual renewal
of old friendships at the annual reunion dinner, we will celebrate
the company's history and its long association with a special event
in the afternoon at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The schedule for the day is:
MIT-hosted Reception: Grand Opening of the
Arthur D. Little Archive Collection -- 3:00 5:30 pm
Celebratory remarks and opportunities to
tour the Archive and Conservation facilities at MIT's Hayden Library
Building, Memorial Drive, Cambridge
ADLAA Reunion: -- 6 - 9:30 pm
Cocktails and Dinner at MIT's magnificent
Walker Memorial Hall, adjacent to the library
All members and friends of the ADLAA are invited to attend either
or both of these events.

Background information:
For
those who may not be familiar with the grand and glorious history
of the two institutions' relationship, here are a few highlights:
Arthur D. Little (the man) attended MIT, received a doctorate
degree, and founded both the discipline and the MIT department of
Chemical Engineering.
MIT actually "owned" (held the majority of the
stock in) the company (Arthur D. Little) for quite a while.
Many MIT graduates have had distinguished careers at ADL.
At its centennial in 1986 ADL endowed a Chair for a Professor
of Chemical Engineering at MIT.
After the 2002 bankruptcy, a number of ADL artifacts, documents,
memorabilia, etc., were sold at auction and/or donated to MIT. These
items have since been cataloged and conserved by MIT as a research
resource for posterity.
