The ADLAA Board will welcome alumni to The 2019 REUNION
ON: Wednesday, September 11th
AT: Grand View Farm and Marion Tavern, Burlington, MA
At reunions, we have always shared good food and good friends. Let’s do that again in 2019! For this year’s event, the Board has chosen another New England historic property at which to celebrate. The site is located on the Town Common in Burlington, just off routes 128 and 3A. Here’s a little history of Grand View Farm.
In pre-Revolutionary days, this location was the site of Simon Trull’s blacksmith shop. In the 1840s, it was purchased by Abner and Sarah Marion, and converted into a tavern and stagecoach stop on the route between Lowelll and Boston. (The railroad eventually doomed the stagecoach business.) Later, Charles McIntire established a successful dairy farm there; the farm remained in the McIntre family for about a century, until 1979. In 2001, the town of Burlington purchased the property from the then-owners and a major community effort was undertaken to restore and preserve it.
For our ADLAA 2019 reunion, we will be having an open bar cocktail hour in the historic Marion Tavern (and on its outside terrace, weather permitting). We’ll be dining in “The Hall,” a space that was once the old barn, now updated for celebrations like ours. Both venues are handicap accessible with ample parking..
More information about registration deadlines and fees will be forthcoming. In the meantime, please be sure to save the date!
We look forward to seeing you in September.
